Ryan ⊥ Dunn: Public Works
An Interventionist Media Performance Score
Opening Night: First Thursday, September 3, 2015, 6-9PM
Public Works consists of two main complementary elements: a telepresence performance score developed by Ryan ⊥ Dunn and Heather A. McShane and an installation presenting a triple variation predictive newspaper with auditory expressions of the content.
Ryan ⊥ Dunn is a media and performance artist considering the implications and manipulation of mediation and communication. He is invested in open culture, expanded field interventions and the primacy of experience as product, and redefining the roles of creativity and pedagogy as both inexorably intertwined and problematically so. He has performed across the US as well as internationally. Originally from the Pacific Northwest United States, Ryan now lives and practices in Chicago where he directs the performative media arts space Tritriangle. Ryan received a BA from Reed College and an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
This project is partially supported by an Individual Artist Program Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, as well as a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
